Established in 2005, the Japanese undergraduate program is supported as a program under the Shandong Provincial Featured Universities Project and has been approved by the University as a high-level, application-oriented program for development.
This major focuses on developing highly qualified application-oriented talents with a solid foundation in Japanese, strong language proficiency, cross-cultural communication competence, practical skills, and innovative thinking. With a well-developed curriculum system, the program places strong emphasis on language proficiency and practical training, enabling students to better adapt to the demands of their future careers.
The program currently has 8 full-time teachers and 1 full-time international faculty member, including 2 associate professors. Among the faculty, 5 hold doctoral degrees, and all have experience studying, conducting research, or teaching in Japan. The teaching team has established a strong academic reputation in the fields of language and culture both at home and abroad. In recent years, the program has advanced educational innovation and teaching reform in response to regional and national strategic needs, and promoted the integration of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China into teaching materials, classroom instruction, and students’ learning, thereby enhancing students’ capacity for international communication.
Career Prospects: Over the past three years, graduates of the program have maintained an average employment rate of 99% and an average postgraduate admission rate of nearly 40%. Graduates are well prepared for careers in translation and interpreting, research, teaching, management and other work in Japanese-funded enterprises, as well as in foreign affairs, foreign trade, culture, education, scientific research, tourism and other fields.
Length of Schooling: The standard duration of study is four years, with a flexible study period of three to eight years.
